Dr. Marijon Kayßer's practice focuses on white-collar crime. Since 1990 and prior to joining Jones Day, Dr. Kayßer conducted research and taught at the Institute for Criminal Law at the University of Frankfurt, chaired by Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. mult. Winfried Hassemer, judge and vice president of the Federal Constitutional Court. Since entering private practice she has represented a variety of enterprises and leading individuals in criminal defense matters. She also has advised companies that have been affected by white-collar crime or are the subject of a criminal investigation. She has dealt with a number of high-profile cases, including investigations by public prosecutors, regulatory bodies, in particular in the financial services field, tax authorities, and investigation committees. The legal issues she has handled include fraud, breach of trust, bribery and corruption, bankruptcy, insider trading, and other substantive areas. In addition, Dr. Kayßer provides counseling in the growing field of governmental regulation.
Dr. Kayßer is a member of the board of the German Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (Deutsche Strafverteidiger e.V.), the International Association for Legal and Social Philosophy, the German Lawyers Congress, and the German-Israeli Lawyers Association. She has lectured and published widely on criminal law and criminal proceedings. As a member of the board of the Deutsche Strafverteidiger, Dr. Kayßer is a regular contributor and commentator to legislation proposed in the area of criminal law.
