Michael Haas, who co-leads the Firm's global Real Estate Practice, represents clients in real estate finance and real estate private equity. He negotiates joint venture agreements and large portfolio transactions and counsels clients in relation to distressed assets and workouts. In addition, Michael has experience with mezzanine, mortgage, and lease finance. He regularly advises clients regarding the acquisition, disposition, leasing, and management of multifamily, industrial, office, retail, and hotel properties in the United States.

Michael's recent representations include advising DDR Corp. in connection with its purchase of Blackstone's 95 percent interest in 30 shopping malls, Pershing Square Capital Management on its investment in General Growth Properties, and the spin-off of Howard Hughes Corporation from General Growth Properties. Other clients Michael regularly advises include H.I.G. Real Estate Partners L.P., Howard Hughes Corporation, Macquarie Capital (USA), and StepStone Group.

Michael serves on the board of the Basser Leadership Council for the Basser Center for BRCA at Penn Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center. He is former president of the board of trustees for the Joseph and Florence Mandel Jewish Day School and a former board member for The Cleveland Jewish Community Foundation, B'nai Jeshurun, the United Jewish Community's National Young Leadership Cabinet, and the Historic Warehouse District Board. He is a current member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and the American Bar Association (Real Property Section). He is a frequent speaker on real estate, has been a guest commentator on Fox Business News, and is regularly quoted in various publications.
