Michael Dolan specializes in environmental and OSHA matters, counseling clients and representing them in litigation under the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and in hazardous waste and toxic substances matters under RCRA, CERCLA, and TSCA. He has represented clients at more than 60 Superfund sites and provided environmental transaction support for more than 300 corporate and commercial transactions involving environmentally distressed property and businesses. He has guided clients through more than 200 OSHA inspections and contested cases involving various health and safety citations.

His recent work has included matters for Blount International, BP Amoco, Brush Wellman, CTS Corporation, Eastman Chemical, LTV Steel, PG&E National Energy Group, Roadway Express, Temple-Inland Forest Products, and USG Corporation. He is also a special assistant attorney general on behalf of the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Prior to his legal career he was responsible for the occupational health and environmental issues for the chemicals division of a Fortune 500 company. He also was a compliance safety and health officer for the Iowa state OSHA program where he conducted safety and industrial hygiene enforcement inspections of more than 200 businesses. His technical professional qualifications include Certified Industrial Hygienist (Ret.), American Board of Industrial Hygiene and Certified Safety Professional (1977-2001), Board of Certified Safety Professionals.

He has served as a member of the editorial advisory board for Environmental Management News and as a lecturer for the OSHA Training Institute of the United States Department of Labor. He has presented more than 50 lectures and papers to various groups, including the American Newspaper Publishers' Association, the National Safety Council, the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce, and the Ohio State Chamber of Commerce.

Michael is a member of the American Bar Association, Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources and its Committees on: Air Quality; Endangered Species; Energy and Natural Resources Litigation; Environmental Disclosure; Environmental Enforcement and Crimes; Environmental Litigation and Toxic Torts; Environmental Transactions and Brownfields; In-House Counsel; International Environmental Law; Site Remediation; Superfund and Natural Resource Damages Litigation; and Waste Management and the Section of Labor and Employment Law and its Committee on: Occupational Safety and Health Law — Employer/Management.

He is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association (Environmental and Labor Law Sections), the Environmental Law Institute, the American Industrial Hygiene Association, the American Society of Safety Engineers, the Air and Waste Management Association, and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists.
