Luming Chen's practice focuses on international corporate and commercial projects in China, including cross-border mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment, corporate restructuring, corporate finance, real estate, entertainment, insolvency proceedings, and international arbitration. Prior to joining Jones Day, Luming worked with top-tier Chinese and multinational law firms in the U.S. and China.

Luming has extensive experience in representing major multinational companies in their investment projects in China on such matters as establishment of joint ventures, wholly foreign-owned enterprises, and strategic alliances; real estate, venture capital, private equity, and securities transactions; and intellectual property protection. His experience has covered a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, retail, IT, entertainment, technology, chemicals, construction, and transportation. Luming also has extensive experience in energy projects, including power plants, natural gas pipelines, and wastewater treatment facilities. In addition, he has advised Chinese companies in their outbound acquisitions of companies and natural resources.

Luming also has extensive experience in insolvency proceedings in China. He has represented a major foreign-invested retail chain that has retail stores in several Chinese cities in its insolvency proceedings in Chinese courts.

Luming is on the panel of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC). He has represented numerous foreign companies in their arbitration cases before CIETAC and also has advised Chinese companies in their arbitration cases before other international arbitration institutions.
