Joe Sims represents clients in antitrust and related areas of government regulation, including in litigation, counseling, and agency practice, in matters before state and federal courts, antitrust enforcement agencies, and various specialized agencies where competition policy or antitrust issues arise. He has especially broad experience in dealing with mergers and acquisitions and has acted as lead antitrust counsel on some of the most significant transactions of recent years. He also has extensive experience with the full range of antitrust issues involving technology, telecommunications, and electronic media.
Representative clients include Abbott Laboratories, Apple, Chevron, Dell, General Motors, Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), Intuit, Procter & Gamble, Reynolds-American, sanofi-aventis, Sirius-XM, and Viacom/CBS.
Joe regularly writes and lectures on antitrust and related subjects. He is listed in Chambers, Who's Who Legal, and most leading publications recognizing prominent antitrust lawyers. He is the only antitrust lawyer ever recognized (twice, in 2001 and 2009) as a "Dealmaker of the Year" by The American Lawyer. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and a majority of the federal courts of appeal. Joe is a member of the American Bar Association (former chair of the Section 1 Committee and the Civil Practice and Procedure Committee and former chair of the Antitrust Law Committee). He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a member of The American Law Institute.
