John Lewis is a litigator representing corporate clients in products liability lawsuits, complex commercial disputes, and employment litigation matters in venues in the United States and Europe. He has an exemplary record of cases tried to defense verdicts, and he has won dispositive motions in trial and appellate courts throughout the country, as well as in the United States Supreme Court.
John has been instrumental in several recent successes for Firm clients including cross-examining technical experts and delivering closing arguments in a six-week trial in Alameda County, California, that resulted in a complete defense verdict for a medical device manufacturer in a suit seeking over $4 million in compensatory and punitive damages; obtaining dismissal of class action medical monitoring claims against a major medical device manufacturer involving a suburethral sling; obtaining dismissal of lead paint public nuisance claims against an Ohio-based paint company in a case brought by the city of Toledo (subsequent to which, all other Ohio municipalities dismissed similar claims); and acting as first-chair defense counsel in a products liability lawsuit involving multiple failures of implantable tissue expander medical devices that were brought in Mississippi state courts.
John has been recognized as one of Ohio's "Super Lawyer Rising Stars" and is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA), in which he serves as on the Executive Council of the Litigation Section, and has served in the past as chair of the Young Lawyers Section and on the CMBA's board of trustees.
