Jones Day's Rick Deane elected President of National Association of Former United States Attorneys

Rick Deane, a partner in the Atlanta Office of the global law firm Jones Day, has been elected president of the National Association of Former United States Attorneys (NAFUSA).

Founded in 1979, NAFUSA is dedicated to upholding the integrity and independence of the office of the United States Attorney as a principal instrumentality through which the President carries out his constitutional obligation to faithfully execute the laws. Mr. Deane served as United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia from 1998 to 2001.

"Knowing Rick, this position will not merely exist as an honor he richly deserves, but he will take it on as a serious responsibility to be fulfilled with deep integrity and dedication," said Lizanne Thomas, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Atlanta Office.

The co-chair of Jones Day's Corporate Criminal Investigations Practice and a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Mr. Deane served as a Magistrate Judge, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Georgia, from 1994 to 1998, when he was appointed United States Attorney. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan (LL.M. 1979) and the University of Georgia (J.D. 1977; Earl Warren Scholar; B.A. cum laude 1974).
