Jones Day tops BTI Client Service A-Team for 2012

Achieved highest client service score in seven of the last 11 years

Jones Day topped Boston-based BTI Consulting Group's 2012 "Client Service A-Team" ranking, which identifies the top law firms for client service through a national survey of corporate counsel. Jones Day's client service score surpassed that of the second-ranked firm by a 196-point margin. For the 11th consecutive year, the Firm has won a place among BTI's "Client Service 30," the elite group within the "A-Team." The Firm has held the No. 1 spot in this survey for seven of those 11 years, and has always ranked in the top four.

BTI ranks firms into three tiers of honors: "Best of the Best," "Leaders of the Best," and "Honor Roll of the Best." BTI's survey placed the Firm in the first tier, among the Best of the Best, in the following 10 categories:

In the eight categories marked with an asterisk, Jones Day was the only firm ranked "Best of the Best."

The survey placed Jones Day among the "Leaders of the Best" in:

Deals with Unexpected Changes
Regional Reputation

In the three remaining categories, the Firm ranked among the "Honor Roll of the Best" and so was ranked in every one of the 17 categories deemed critical drivers of superior client relationships.

"Jones Day secures its position in the top spot for the second year in a row by earning an exceptional 10 Best of the Best honors in the activities driving superior client relationships; including 2 of the most strategic: Commitment to Help and Understanding the Client's Business.

"Client descriptions of Jones Day include 'my trusted partner' and 'great innovative thinkers;' driving the firm to the top of The BTI Client Service 30. Jones Day positions itself 'at the forefront of changes in law' and shares industry knowledge and understanding in 'thorough updates' to demonstrate superior commitment and client service."

BTI bases its findings on more than 3,100 client interviews conducted over an 11-year period. For its 2012 survey, BTI interviewed 240 corporate counsel, representing 66.7 percent of the Fortune 1000 and Global 500 corporations, between May and September of this year. The average revenue of the participating companies is $13.1 billion. Participants represent a broad range of industries, including banking, chemicals, consumer goods, energy, financial services, high tech, insurance, investment banking, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, professional services, retail trade, telecommunications, transportation, and wholesale trade.
