Jones Day named a "Competition Group of the Year" by publisher Competition Law360

January 2011

Jones Day's Antitrust & Competition Law Practice has been named among the five leading antitrust and competition law practices of 2010 by publisher Competition Law360.

Firms receiving this honor were selected from more than 400 submissions by a committee of Law360 editors, which based its decisions on the significant antitrust litigation successes the firm had or the size, number, and complexity of deals it handled in 2010.

Law360 identified some of the litigation and other disputes that led it to select Jones Day:

On behalf of American Needle, Jones Day handled "arguably the most important antitrust case of the year" before the U.S. Supreme Court;

Jones Day successfully defended American Airlines in the European Commission investigation of air cargo carrier price fixing

Jones Day represented American Airlines in obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals and antitrust immunity for its joint venture with British Airways and Iberia;

Jones Day helped American Airlines secure continuation of its alliance with Japan Airlines

On behalf of Dutch telecom operator BASE, Jones Day successfully challenged Belgacom’s abuse of its dominant market position.

The award also highlighted Jones Day’s work for clients in a number of complex, high-profile transactions in 2010, which included representing:

SAP in its $5.8 billion acquisition of Sybase
