Frances Murphy leads the London Competition practice.  Recognized for her clear and pragmatic advice, Frances has extensive competition law experience representing clients in contentious and noncontentious EU and domestic competition matters. She regularly represents clients in proceedings before the Office of Fair Trading, the Competition Commission, the European Commission, the General Court, and the European Court of Justice. On the behavioral side, her practice includes bringing and defending all types of competition disputes, cartels, dawn raids, dominance, pricing, discounts, promotions, parallel trade, and refusals to supply. Sectors include the aviation and maritime shipping industries, grocery, insurance, media, pharmaceuticals, and construction.

On the transactional side, Frances has extensive experience with mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, joint ventures, and other strategic alliances, as well as with licensing of intellectual property rights. She has represented AstraZeneca Plc, Goodrich, London Metal Exchange, Procter & Gamble, Ryder System Inc., sanofi-aventis, and WL Ross in acquisitions, joint ventures, and investments.

Frances is a Fellow of the Centre for International Legal Studies and a member of the British Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, the Competition Law Forum, the Competition Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce, and the Law Society European Solicitors Group. She is party to a respected think tank on EU competition law and legislative change. She is a contributing editor to Butterworths Competition Law Encyclopedia.
