Jones Day's Düsseldorf Office opened on February 1, 2012. With the opening of its third office in Germany, the Firm confirms its investment in one of the most important and sophisticated legal markets in the world and continues to expand its successful German practice. Düsseldorf and the surrounding Rhine-Ruhr region are the industrial heartland and center of corporate activity in Germany. The region hosts the headquarters of 37 of Germany’s Fortune 100 and is home to many of our German clients. In the heavily decentralized German legal market, the new Düsseldorf Office, in tandem with the Firm's existing offices in Frankfurt (opened in 1991) and Munich (opened in 2003)—which together comprise more than 70 lawyers—will allow Jones Day to provide globally integrated legal services to our German and international clients and help them capitalize on opportunities presented by a global economy.

The initial focus of the Düsseldorf Office will be on corporate matters, M&A, private equity, antitrust, patent litigation, and global litigation and arbitration. As the home to the most important patent infringement court in Europe, Düsseldorf is a natural choice for Jones Day's strong global patent practice. Antitrust will also play an important role, since the close vicinity to the German cartel office and Brussels has made the Düsseldorf region one of the main centers for antitrust work in Europe. Furthermore, Düsseldorf has one of the largest Japanese communities in Europe and is the European and German headquarters to many Japanese corporations. The combination of Jones Day's offices in Tokyo, Brussels, and Düsseldorf will offer Japanese clients all of the legal services required in connection with their investments into Europe.
