Erica Reilley is a skilled litigator whose practice focuses on legal strategy, analysis, and advocacy in trial and appellate courts throughout the U.S. Erica has argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the California Court of Appeal, and federal and state trial courts.
Erica has authored winning briefs in a variety of practice areas. Most recently, she coordinated the motions team that successfully defended Yamaha Motor Company in a jury trial concerning its popular off-road vehicle, the Rhino. She also was the primary writer of summary judgment and appellate briefs that successfully defended the County of Los Angeles against constitutional challenges to county-paid local judicial benefits. Erica currently is a key brief writer in a collection of coordinated cases defending Expedia and its related entities against claims by various California cities for payment of allegedly owed transient occupancy tax; the Expedia entities have secured a series of notable victories.
Erica is committed to public service. She has worked on pro bono matters for the Ninth Circuit Pro Bono Panel, Public Counsel, and Bet Tzedek and has volunteered at the Los Angeles County Bar Association Domestic Violence Project. Erica is an active member of the ABA Council of Appellate Lawyers, the LACBA Appellate Courts Section, and the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles.
Erica currently is an adjunct professor of legal writing and advocacy at USC Law School and previously was an adjunct professor of appellate advocacy at Loyola Law School. She also is a licensed California real estate broker.
