David Schenck has represented a wide range of corporate clients involved in litigation and the appeals process in cases across the country. These cases typically involve complex constitutional, statutory, and regulatory issues stemming from governmental excesses. He has also successfully sought review and reversal in several cases before the United States Supreme Court and the Texas Supreme Court and represented industry and public interest groups as amicus curiae in courts across the country.
David is board certified in civil appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has served as Texas's representative to the Rules Advisory Committee to the Fifth Circuit. He has been repeatedly selected for inclusion in the annual survey of Texas "Super Lawyers" by Law & Politics and Texas Monthly magazine. In 2007, David was appointed to the Texas Lottery Commission by Governor Rick Perry.
David's casework has been regularly featured in legal publications. Some of his more recent representations have included: the successful pursuit on behalf of nuclear scientist Wen Ho Lee of the first ever mass media settlement of a Privacy Act case following victories in the D.C. Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court, the successful effort to obtain mandamus relief for one of two groups of FLDS mothers whose children were removed in a highly publicized raid on the Yearning for Zion Ranch in West Texas, and the representation of 40 state rifle associations as amici curiae urging recognition of an individual Second Amendment right in Heller v. District of Columbia.
David received the State Bar of Texas's highest award the President's Award in 1998 and, in 2003, was honored with the Texas Access to Justice Commission's Stars of Justice Award and the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program's Special Service Award for his role in the successful defense of IOLTA programs before the U.S. Supreme Court.
From 1995 to 1998, David served on the adjunct faculty at Southern Methodist University.
