Douglas Weinstein joins Jones Day as intellectual property partner in Taipei

Washington, DC -- The global law firm Jones Day is pleased to announce that Douglas Weinstein has joined the Firm's Taipei Office as a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice. Mr. Weinstein arrives from the Atlanta office of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP. He previously served as the Resident Managing Partner of Finnegan’s Taipei office from 2007 through 2011.

Mr. Weinstein focuses his practice on patent and trade secrets litigation in the electrical, computer, and telecommunications industries. He has extensive experience representing clients in areas such as semiconductors, computer systems, networking technology, wireless networks, LCD monitors, and software.

"His extensive IP litigation experience in the US, including litigation before the International Trade Commission (ITC), and his in-depth knowledge of the technology industry in Taiwan will serve to strengthen our capabilities in counseling Taiwan companies facing IP litigation in U.S. district courts and the ITC."

Mr. Weinstein's practice also includes patent prosecution, portfolio counseling, and infringement, validity, and patentability opinions. He is a Taiwan Foreign Legal Affairs Attorney, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Mr. Weinstein earned his Bachelors of Engineering from Vanderbilt University, and his J.D. and Master of Intellectual Property from Franklin Pierce Law Center. He also earned an M.B.A from the University of Alabama. During his time in Taiwan, Mr. Weinstein served as an Adjunct Professor at National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, where he taught courses in U.S. intellectual property litigation.
