With more than 15 years experience as a health care lawyer, Cathy Ehrgott focuses her practice on helping companies in the health care industry complete significant transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, affiliations, private placements, and asset and stock purchases and sales. She represents hospitals and health systems, academic medical centers, insurance and managed care companies, and other industry clients.
Cathy has considerable experience negotiating health care-related commercial agreements, including consulting, physician employment, physician recruitment, PBM, and pharmacy rebate agreements. In the managed care industry, she has negotiated operational agreements including payor, ASO, PHO, and vendor agreements, as well as professional, ancillary, and facility provider agreements. She also advises clients regarding general health law issues, including licensure and fraud and abuse.
Representative matters include City of Hope National Medical Center's asset acquisition and medical foundation development; Loma Linda University Medical Center's investment in a physician-owned hospital and various joint ventures; St. Mary's Preferred Health's development of a statewide provider network joint venture; Banner Health's acquisition by merger of AMC; and Capital BlueCross' corporate reorganization, development of a professional network, HMO acquisition, negotiation of vendor and PBM relationships, and provider contracting strategy.
Cathy is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the California Society of Health Lawyers. She served on the Executive Committee of the State Bar Business Law Section (secretary, 2008-2009; CFO 2009-2010) and is its liaison to the State Bar Health Law Committee where she has previously served in various leadership positions (co-chairperson, 2003-2004 and vice chairperson, 2004-2005).
