Adrienne Mueller has experience in a wide range of complex litigation, with a focus on representing companies and their officers and directors in securities, derivative, and shareholder litigation. She also has experience defending clients in litigation brought on behalf of employee benefits plans. In addition to participating in the representation of clients in contests for corporate control, Adrienne regularly advises public and private clients on a variety of matters of corporate governance. Moreover, she has extensive experience defending clients under investigation by the SEC, as well as conducting internal client investigations.
Representative clients in recent public matters include Boykin Lodging Company, Cardinal Health, Diebold, and Xcel Energy. In 2005, Adrienne gained invaluable plaintiff-side experience as part of the 10-week trial of Crowley v. Chait, No. 85-2441 (D.N.J.), which resulted in a jury verdict of $119.9 million for the Vermont Commissioner of Banking, Insurance, Securities and Health Care Administration, as the receiver of Ambassador Insurance Company. The judgment was secured against Ambassador's former president and CEO and the accounting firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP on the basis of allegations of corporate mismanagement and accounting malpractice and was recently affirmed by the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
Licensed to practice before the Ohio Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, Adrienne also has represented clients in a number of other federal jurisdictions. She is a member of the Ohio State and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations.
