ALI-ABA Program on the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005

July/August 2005

In the recently enacted Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005, Congress made substantial revisions to the Bankruptcy Code and related statutes, most of which will take effect in all cases filed on or after October 17, 2005. These revisions, the most significant changes in bankruptcy law and practice since the adoption of the Bankruptcy Code in 1978, affect all areas of bankruptcy practice, including consumer, business, tax, and international bankruptcy law.

Jones Day's Carl Jenks joins a panel of experienced judges, professors, and practitioners to guide registrants through the changes enacted by the new law. This course presents a unique opportunity to learn from the leading bankruptcy experts about the benefits and pitfalls of this sweeping legislative change. The presentations are in panel format to encourage exchange of views among the panelists and to accommodate questions from the registrants.
