Airlines, aerospace, and other aviation industry clients come to Jones Day to solve their most difficult problems in North America, Europe, and Asia.
We have broad experience in handling matters involving civil aviation regulation and enforcement, aircraft finance, engine and aircraft leasing, competition law and antitrust, mergers and alliances, aircraft acquisition and disposition, aircraft accident litigation, airport terminal construction and expansion projects, aviation environmental issues, as well as aviation company bankruptcy, reorganization, and restructuring issues.
Our aviation lawyers have held high ranking transportation posts in the U.S., Europe, and Japan, and we have industry general counsel experience. We were part of the U.S. delegation negotiating the "open skies" agreement, and we have navigated through complex and often conflicting aviation regulatory regimes worldwide. Our lawyers also are experienced in structuring international commercial alliances. We have represented manufacturers, financiers, and airlines in complex international air finance transactions for decades.
We represent clients in civil litigation filed in the U.S. trial and appellate courts and elsewhere. We also represent clients before the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Federal Aviation Administration, the European Commission, the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
Our aviation lawyers have been recognized by Chambers USA, The Legal 500, Bloomberg, and The American Lawyer. A number of our lawyers are pilots, and we are active in aviation and legal organizations, including IATA, the ABA Subcommittee on Aircraft Finance, The Wings Club, NBAA, AOPA, ISASI, the Association of Transportation Law Professionals, the International Aviation Women’s Association, and local bar associations. We also have participated in regional business aircraft associations, Angel Flight of Georgia, and the Air Care Alliance.
